After 5 kills (4 with Hardline) you can unlock a sentry gun can be placed almost anywhere (anywhere there is room), it is best used to cover long corridors or wide open spaces. If you come up against one of these you can disable it with a flashbang (not sure about stun grenades) – or you can simply use a riot shield to deflect the bullets, which will get you a lot of points 
If you have cold-blooded you won’t be targetted by sentry guns either, but you can still get shot if you step in the line of fire, so just don’t go running in whilst it is firing!!!
