Yesterday night I ran a practice with around 15 people on Call of Duty 4 on Xbox Live – I basically taught them some formations that SWAT teams use. You can read about last nights practice here.
Tonight I started on phase 2 of the training, which covered a lot. We started off talking about ways of moving and how a 6 man team works together. Then we moved into more detailed stuff such as room clearing tactics and hallway covering. By this time the guys had got a little bored so we switch to Search and Destroy and played for around an hour – a lot of the guys were using the tactics they learned and you could see the ones were using it tended to do better.
I’m having a rest tomorrow, on Thursday at 8pm we will be doing phase 3, which will cover stairwell clearing, smoke, dealing with ambushes and finally large building clearing operations.
I’m not sure what will happen after that, I just know that it has to become second nature and the guys have to become a lot more disciplined with the tactics and working as part of a team – a lot of them are just out to get kills…

Have you had much success applying these types of tactics to Modern Warfare 2. What particular manual did you study in your research of SWAT Tactics. Thanks.
Hey when are you doing these practices. I’d be really interested in joining one.
Sorry Nick, they were done back in September on Call of Duty 4 – it turned out SWAT team tactics didn’t apply quite as brilliant as we thought. Some of the techniques were good, but the formations didn’t work…
Hi,
I’m currently recruiting members for my clan. Check out http://www.specopselite.webs.com This is for players of ModernWarfare2 and BattleField 1943 on the XBox360.
Check out my video on Squad Tactics, I think we’re on the same wavelength. Once I have at least six members I will start scheduling matches with other clans. Until then I’m willing to create a Party to improve our tactics.
