The TAR-21 is a fuly automatic gun, it goes the same damage as the SCAR-H but it has 50% more bullets in the clip and so it has 50% more spare bullets aswell (as you get the same number of clips). So it is worth using over the SCAR-H – but if you want an assault rifle that is fully automatic and has a decent red dot sight, you are better off with the AK47.

Extended Mags

Extended mags are normally unlocked from completing the FMJ challenge (40 kills I think). It is very hard to unlock, but extended mags is actually probably quite useful – it will prevent you having to reload as much. Although for some people who obsessively reload, this attachment has no advantage – but for those who like to spray or use cover fire or shoot through objects, this attachment should be particularly handy.

Update: to get the FMJ challenge, it counts if you shoot them through a window – shouldn’t take you too long now eh?

Thermal Scope Attachment

Ok, thermal scope is very useful, especially if you are sniper – it is also particularly effective if you are having difficulty entering a building: simply throw smoke down on the doorway and let the smoke billow out. Once there is enough smoke slowly enter the room whilst crouching and zooming in – scanning the room for heat signatures, very effective.

It has a few major disadvantages – for some of you, you may have felt like it is a little sluggish – on my Xbox I noticed the frame rate dropping either that or it is meant to create a similar effect. Also if you play on a snowy level you will notice that it highlights people in white, on a white snowy background this practically makes them invisible!

Holographic Sight

This is basically an attachment for a gun which zooms in a bit more than a red dot – personally I prefer the red dot sight – but many people prefer this, so it is worth trying out. It is unlocked by getting red dot sight kills (normally 60 I think).

Shotgun Attachment

I’ve had a go with this attachment, it’s normally unlocked with 20 grenade launcher kills. To be honest I wasn’t impressed as it normally takes 2 shots to kill someone and not only that, but it takes about the same time to switch to. Best off with a grenade launcher if you ask me

FMJ

FMJ stands for Full Metal Jacket – basically it means you have more bullet penetration – so you do more damage through walls etc. I know from talking to players on Xbox Live that this isn’t a particularly good attachment, people are struggling to do the 40 FMJ kills challenge to unlock the extended mags – the reason? It is just a bit pants to be honest, better off levelling up the next gun instead of wasting your time with FMJ.
