Racking up a big score in an online deathmatch in Modern Warfare 2 is one of the more challenging aspects of the game, especially if you are new to the game. One of the more important strategies to understand and master in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the ever important Killstreak. If you are new to Modern Warfare 2 this deathmatch strategy guide will hopefully help you understand how and when to use your Killstreaks.

If you are brand new to the game you will start with only 3 limited options in your Killstreak arsenal. The UAV, the Care Package and the Predator Missile. You will have to level up and unlock the remaining Killstreaks. You can do some decent damage right away even with these three basic Killstreaks.

UAV’s will display on your mini-map where enemies are but keep in mind there is a slight delay on where they last showed up and where they actually are in the map. This gives you an advantage on getting the first shot on any approaching enemies when used properly. Hopefully once you become experienced enough this UAV will help you quickly add one more kill.

The next Killstreak is the Care Package. It’s a random Killstreak (anything from a Predator Missile or a Chopper Gunner) or an ammo drop. Anytime you use a Killstreak from a Care Package it does not count towards your kill count. It’s a mixed bag but be extremely careful where you drop your Care Package marker. If you misplace it, your package could become stranded in an inaccessible area. If you want to be extra tricky you could intentionally drop the Care Package marker somewhere extremely visible and open. Then hide with the crate in sight and make sure you are not too exposed. Hopefully an enemy or two will rush to attempt to steal your crate. Let them approach the crate and slowly attempt to poach your Care Package. This should give you an easy kill to obtain your Predator Missile.

With 5 kills in a row, you can obtain the extremely powerful Predator Missile Killstreak reward.Personally I love this in an deathmatch online game. You can fire in a remote controlled missile and drop down a powerful bomb on your enemies. Your enemies will be displayed with red squares around them and hitting the R1 button will accelerate your missile. Ideally aim for groups of enemies but be quick as your missile will show up on your opponents mini-maps.

With your first unlock for Killstreaks I highly recommend you unlocking the Harrier Killstreak reward. I would drop off the UAV option as you can only choose three choices for Killstreaks. This can be one of the more powerful Killstreaks available early on if your opponents are careless. You are able to not only call in a Harrier with a gatling gun but pick anywhere on the map to call in an air strike. Be careful not to be anywhere near where you called in your air strike or you will accidentally kill yourself.

You must learn to stay out of sight when using your Killstreaks such as Harriers or Predator Missiles. The first urge sometimes when you are new to Killstreaks is to enable them immediately on obtaining them. This is completely dependent on the situation where your player is currently! You need to seek cover immediately and be careful not to be too exposed while you control your Killstreaks.

Hopefully this guide will give you push in the right direction when it comes to obtain and using the very important Killstreaks found in Modern Warfare 2. Using Killstreaks is one of the most entertaining aspects of Modern Warfare 2 and will help you enjoy your online deathmatch games much more.

I currently game on the xbox 360 console, with the gamertag eGz ii Mario. My kill/death ratio is 2.37, and has been steadily increasing since i began playing MW2 in November. It seems when i game that all i talk about is the importance of my kill/death ratio, and its fluctuation. It therefore seems fitting to write a guide on how to increase this statistic.

Choose the right gametype
One significant method of increasing your k/d is to assess the game type you play. For example, I generally only play team deathmatch, as from my experience the gamers aren’t as experienced and dont have the quality of gamers who play for instance, search & destroy. I feel it is important that you try to have a party play team deathmatch as apposed to playing individually, because working as a team means you can communicate and not be dominated by the opposition.

Party Up
I have found it difficult and frustrating at times playing on my own against a clan, and my overall score has suffered for this, whereas, with a team I seem to not only play better but enjoy the game more, and on average seem to get over 20 kills a game, out of a possible 75. Of course this statistic depends on each player, but in my case, the more I play with friends on a team, the better I do.

Get the killstreaks right
Another important way to increase your k/d is the relevant killstreak rewards you pick. It seems that on the most part the average gamer picks UAV, care package, and predator missile. When playing team deathmatch, I only ever use the killstreaks of harrier strike, chopper gunner, nuke.

Depending on how confident you feel as a gamer, these three killstreak rewards are in my opinion the best to gain the most amount of kills, however, if you dont feel comfortable which such high killstreaks, a predator missile usually is very effective if used at the right time. I always look to get at least two kills with a missile, as my next killstreak would be likely to a harrier strike. It maybe an idea to wait to use a missile when two enemies have died in quick succession, so therefore, you can hit them at a spawning point.

For the average gamer i believe that a 5, 7, and 11 killstreaks would be suitable, but only in gametypes with respawning, such as, TDM or domination.

Choose the right class
A further point to assess, is the different classes you can choose, which again depends on the game type you play. I will focus on TDM again, as this is the game type I feel that you can get the higest kill/death ratio overall. Depending on your current rank in the game I feel the best class for a team deathmatch would be the Scar – H with a red dot sight. Of course the perks are very important too, and therefore, I suggest using scavanger pro, stopping power pro, and commander pro.

Fully automatic assault rifle all the way
I feel that the Scar – H is the most effective gun for team deathmatch, as it is firstly a fully automatic weapon. It seems very easy to control in terms of its recoil, and seems to find an enemy almost quicker than other assault rifles. I am currently a level 43 on prestige 4, and yet i still use this gun when others would chose the m16 for example.

This on paper is a better gun, but its 3 burst fire can be awkward for some players with slower trigger fingers. So the Scar – H seems perfect for this particular game type. In terms of attachments for this weapon, I lean towards the red dot sight, as I prefer the sight generally over any other, but this won’t make a huge difference to your play, so use whichever you feel most comfortable using.

Perks of the job
The perks I have suggested however, are vital in increasing kills. Firstly, Scavenger pro, which for the Scar gives you a total of 120 bullets. I feel having an increased bullet amount is very important, as it is very easy to use the usual clip of 40 bullets in a short space of time, and therefore, you could find yourself using a secondary weapon as your main gun, which often results in death.

Stopping power pro, almost speaks for itself, in that it increases the damage a bullet has on an enemy, and therefore reduces the amount of bullets needed to kill an opponent. This is helpful for gamers with a low accuracy, and I have suggested the Scar – H as it is already a powerful weapon, and so with stopping power pro, the amount of bullets needed to kill an enemy is reduced also.

Commando pro I believe sometimes proves to be the most important perk, as it allows you to jump from any hight without any damage being incurred on your player. It seems that all the new maps have more levels, for example ‘favela’ has a plethera of roofs that can be use very effectively to jump off if seeking out enemies. I often find myself jumping from high buildings now, and this allows me to attack enemies in a sneaky fashion as often they cannot see me coming.

Summary

Concluding, I feel that to increase your kill/death ratio you should concentrate on playing team deathmatch, and try to play with a party, as this allows for easier communication and cover from team mates.
Killstreak rewards are also vital in bettering your k/d, as i have suggested i use 7, 11, and 25 killstreaks, however, your decision will depend on how confident you feel you are as a player. But it can be said that an attack helicopter will not get anything like the kills a harrier strike would, and I believe that a chopper gunner is far superier to an AC130. An interesting fact is that pave low’s dont count to your killstreak, and so if you have an 11 killstreak selected you will need to get an extra 2 kills in order to get this killstreak.
Finally, I suggest using the class i have listed in this post, as overall it is very effective, and is likely to improve your kills per game, due to its power, and fire rate.

Tip: Camping can seriously improve your kill/death if used effectively.
